About Superb Horticulture
OUR HISTORY
What started as an FFA project for U-pick berries in the seventies has grown into a multifaceted business supplying specialty agriculture products sold worldwide. Along the way James (Sam) Erwin earned a BS in Horticulture from Purdue University and an MS from The Ohio State University. While always active in farming he has also been a professor of Marketing at Manchester College, an entrepreneur involved in wholesale, retail, mail order and manufacturing. All of his endeavors have been related to Horticultural products include Indian Berry and Plant Co; Produce Promotions and Superb Horticulture LLC manufacturer of AgTec Sprayers, and distributer of Berthoud, Perfect (choppers and mowers), Enviromest and Kuhn (Montana).

1969
James (Sam) Erwin started planting berries in the family farm.

1979
Split off and incorporated fruit and vegetable operation into what is still today Pickin Patch.

1982
Sam started selling fruit and vegetable machinery and started representing Norcal Nursery in Eastern US.

1992
Took sabbatical year and taught marketing at Manchester College, a one year temporary full time position.

1993
Bought part of Ahrens Nursery and started Indiana Berry and Plant Farm at Huntingburg Indiana; same year initiated Superb Horticulture D.B.A.

1994
Published first Indiana Berry catalog.

1995
Purchased Orr Plant Farm consolidated at Huntingburg. In the same year Sam purchased distribution rights for an inventory of Berthoud Sprayers in South Haven Mi. and also started HadWin Supply.

1997
Built new building at Plymouth moved Superb Horticulture business to Plymouth.

1999
Bought share of Brittingham Plant Farms name and mailing list.

2000
Bought Produce Promotions.

2003
Published first Produce Promotion's catalog.

2005
Opened first web store same year he bought AgTec division of Agco, Manufacturers of AgTec sprayers and Frost Dragons, Importers of Perfect choppers and Mowers.

2007
Produce Promotions Company moved from Huntingburg Indiana to Plymouth location.

2010
Due to retirement of the manager of Indiana Berry and Plant Co. in Huntingburg we consolidated that facility into our Plymouth facility and closed the Huntingburg location.

All companies were consolidated into one facility located in Plymouth IN.

2017
A lot has happened since 1993 when Superb Horticulture started but as it has been since the beginning; our number one priority is the satisfaction of the customer.
